From VFIs to OTDRs, our test equipment range provides data center technicians with tools to assist with verification, fault-finding, and standards-based certification testing for in-depth analysis and report generation.
Visual Fault Identifiers (VFI)
Mini Fiber Optic Visual Fault Locator
The OPTVFL-MINI is a powerful pocket-sized visual fault locator, designed to trouble shoot faults on fiber optic cables. Small enough to easily fit inside an installers pocket or tool belt, it is the ideal tool to carry on-site and have on hand for any emergency. The OPTVFL-MINI is a necessary addition to an engineers toolset because it can identify breaks, bends and connector losses inside the OTDR’s dead-zone. Portable and light, it lends itself to other applications, including end-to-end continuity checks, identifying connectors in patch panels and identifying fibers during splicing operations. The universal 2.5mm connector interface provides fast operation with many connector styles, without the need to change adapters.
HiLite Visual Fault Identifier
The HiLite visible red laser source is designed to troubleshoot faults on fiber optic cables. Light generated by these units will escape from sharp bends and breaks in jacketed or bare fibers, as well as poorly mated connectors. They can quickly identify faults in fiber optic jumper cables, distribution frames, patch panels, and splice trays.
MT Tracer
The MT Tracer is a compact multi-fiber Visual Fault Identifier (VFI) to verify MPO / MTP® fiber cable type (A, B, C), continuity and end-to-end polarity. The user simply connects the 12-fiber cable directly to the unit and views the results. Fibers can be tested individually or all at once. By progressing sequentially through the fibers, cables can be quickly checked for polarity by verifying the proper order at the output.
Optical Loss Test Kits
Single-Mode Loss Test Kit
SLP5-6D is a rugged loss test kit with data storage designed to measure insertion loss on singlemode fiber networks. Each SLP5-6D Kit includes an OLS2-Dual Laser Source for performing insertion loss measurements on single-mode fiber optic links, and OPM5 Optical Power Meter that provides accurate measurements and reference storage for each calibrated wavelength, detects multiple test tones for fiber identification, and provides in-unit data storage.
Multimode Loss Test Kit
MLP5-2 is a robust loss test kit with data storage designed to measure insertion loss on multimode fiber networks. Each MLP5-2 Kit includes an OLS1-Dual LED Source capable of transmitting highly stabilized output (single or dual wavelength) ensuring accurate test results per current EN/ISO/TIA requirements, and OPM5 Optical Power Meter with a user-friendly interface and integrated file management for fast report generation.
Single/Multimode Loss Test Kit
SMLP5-5 is a versatile loss test kit with data storage designed to measure insertion loss on both singlemode and multimode fiber networks. Each SMLP5-5 Kit includes an OLS4 quad Optical Light Source equipped with industry-standard 2 kHz test tone, and OPM5 Optical Power Meter to easily capture, store and transfer test results.
Fiber Identifier
OFI-400 Optical Fiber Identifier
The OFI-400 is a rugged, hand-held and easy-to-use fiber optic test instrument designed to detect and measure the core power levels of optical signals on singlemode optical fiber without disrupting traffic on that fiber. The OFI-400 is simply clamped onto a fiber and indicates the presence and direction of traffic, CW signals and 270, 330, 1000 and 2000 Hz test tones. It allows technical personnel to unambiguously identify a specific fiber and eliminates the risk of accidental disruption of revenue service.
The AFL Hyperscale range of fiber optic cleaning, inspection and test equipment is ideal for installing and maintaining high-density network cabling in data centers.
The range has been carefully selected to help technicians overcome challenges associated with fiber identification, cleanliness, fault finding, network verification, and certification. Including a series of cleaning tools, fiber scopes, visual fault identifiers, power meter and light source kits, certification testers and OTDRs, the range is designed to ensure best practice and best performance for data center networks.
