National Apprenticeship Week is a week that brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses, and the wider economy.
According to the UK government website, the theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2023 is ‘Skills for Life’. The week will reflect on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career and help businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with skills for the future.
Daniel Passmore, who is completing a warehouse supervisor apprenticeship at our Haverhill site, tells us a bit about his personal experience:xt Here
“Hi, I’m Daniel. I’m 24 years old and started my warehouse supervisor apprenticeship at AFL Hyperscale Haverhill in July 2022.
The apprenticeship is a 12-18 month course so I’m looking to complete it sometime between July – August this year.
I was already working in the warehouse team at Haverhill as a Senior Stores Operator and decided to undertake the apprenticeship to further develop my knowledge within my role.
So far, I’ve experienced an in-depth view on both the handling and logistics of inbound and outbound stock, as well as how to maintain and control stock in the building. I’ve also learnt a lot about people management and how to handle running a team.
My favorite part of this experience so far has been further developing my skills and getting the chance to apply them to my day-to-day tasks.
My goal for the future is to continue developing my knowledge even further and hopefully progress into a warehouse supervisor/management role.
My advice to other young people considering an apprenticeship is to go into it with an open mind as any knowledge and experience you already have can always be developed further.”Daniel Passmore
