Hyperscale
AFL is the industry expert in fiber optic connectivity for large-scale data centers and the first cabling and connectivity solution provider focused on their ever-evolving needs.
" What does hyperscale mean?
Put simply, hyperscale is the ability for a computing system to adapt in scale to the demands of a workload. It is this type of computing power and network scale that drives video streaming, social media, cloud computing, software platforms, and big-data storage. Data centers are the physical fleet of structures where this type of computing power occurs."– Alan Keizer, Senior Technology Consultant, AFL
Hyperscale Challenges
In today’s connected world, we recognize the challenges facing hyperscalers are varied and complex.
Continuity
When a one-minute network outage is the equivalent of $100,000+ revenue, the impact is instant, substantial, and, on occasion, catastrophic. We understand how network redundancy and resiliency can be built into even the most complex network architectures, giving you peace of mind.
Security
Data breaches have more than just a financial impact, a security attack creates a lack of consumer trust, damaging the hyperscale provider’s image, integrity, and reliability. Infrastructure redundancy and a network’s physical characteristics are often the last lines of defense against internal or external threats. At AFL, we create solutions to help protect your network against such risks.
Global Availability
Hyperscale is a game of growth and this means either building up or building out. Building out means acquiring or leasing land where development space is often limited, or expanding into new countries or continents - this requires expert knowledge and local support.
Local Availability
On the flip side, if you are looking to ensure low latency in a densely-populated area where land is expensive or non-existent, you need to build up. Wherever your expansion and whatever the size, we can help you to get it right, anywhere in the world.
Technology
Constant technological advancement often means that running out-of-date technology consumes more space, power, and time. As hyperscalers need to renew their technology every 3-4 years, we recognize they need suppliers that can share innovation, commercialize new technologies quickly, and support rolling large-scale replenishment.
Suppliers
The rapid growth of hyperscale data centers is dependent on the strength of their supply chain. From intermittent demand to the need for rapid technological innovation, we pride ourselves on understanding the opportunities and challenges hyperscalers face and are dedicated to helping them deliver their services and create a more connected world.
